Finally got back in!

Can you believe I lost all the information to access my blogger account? Finally got around to getting everything reset. It's been about a year since I've posted in the blog, but I've been very active with my art in the mean time. Let's bring you all up to speed.

Yea, it's a LOT of Tera fanart, but that's what I'm into right now. Enjoy! I will be updating this blog regularly again from now on.

Paintings from the past

Well here is one of the paintings I said I was working on last time. This character is one that I've been drawings for at least the past 10 years. When I entered art school I stopped drawing her for a long time; mainly because my style was going through a lot of change and I was rediscovering myself as an artist. Now that she's reemerged and in my new drawing style, I find that I really enjoy drawing her again. I wonder if the other characters from my childhood will go through a similar transformation.

This painting is meant to represent a rebirth for this character who is essentially myself. I used to have a story that I planned on writing when I was younger, but it faded away when I let life get in the way. My husband tells me that you shouldn't keep yourself from dreaming, but is there any room for dreaming anymore in this world?

Setting Goals

I haven't died, I promise. I've been very busy working out character designs for All or Nothing and almost everything is ironed out. And then I can work on storyboards! On top of this I have personal goals, like doing anywhere between one to three animations a day (concentrating mostly on loops, but some cinematic stuff too) as well as working out to a new set of DVD's I just got. The biggest news in my life is that my parents were amazingly generous and bought me a Wacom Cintiq 12WX as a graduation present. This thing is practically glued to my hand and when I have a spare moment I promise to start doing my daily doodles again and posting them on Sundays.

Daily Doodle

Well life is starting to find a rhythm again. I've got my website up and running in it's new setup and I'm animating and updating nearly every day. Course this next week I've got three networking events to go to, followed by two more the following week so who knows what's going to happen now.

Here are some sketches for you to enjoy.

Website Update

Well, no drawings this week or last week. I've been going over a bit of a rough patch in life, but as always I keep myself busy. I've submitted a video to 11secondclub's June competition and I'm very happy with how it's come out. Getting to communicate with fellow animators and have my work critiqued again after so long of working alone is refreshing. I feel like the two weeks of intense work helped me to grow a lot and I look forward to participating in future contests there.

I've also updated my website to a whole new configuration that better displays my clips. Now instead of just a demo reel (which is still available in the Reel section of the site) all of my videos are now shown individually for viewing and divided into two categories: Game Animations and Cinematic Animations. I'll be updating this page very often as I will be animating a lot more than drawing from now on, whereas my reel is a pain to update and I will probably be only updating that on a monthly basis. So please be sure to keep an eye out on not only my blog (which I'll get to update someday, I promise) but also http://mandymassie.com for always newer and better art!

Daily Doodle and Big Changes

Hey everyone, here's some drawings for the week, but more importantly an announcement:

I'm working on giving my website, http://mandymassie.com a complete overhaul in how it's organized. I received some much needed critiques and new ideas on how to move forward as an animator and I'm very excited about what's to come.

The other thing I want to say is: anyone who looks at my website or blog; got something to say? Critiques, questions, comments? Feel free to send me an email at amanda@mandymassie.com! Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Daily Doodle

I want a pug of my own so badly! I'd love to have live reference instead of drawing other people's beautiful dogs. Ah, well.

Shame on me!

Well, another week, another apology. But, on the bright side, I updated my demo reel once again.

I spent a week and a half working hard to rig my modeled character, the knight which can be found under the "modeling and texture painting" section on my website. I've dubbed him Sir Mumble, and now he has his own debut animation at the beginning of my reel.

It will probably be a while before I update my reel again. For now it's back to working with Flash, 3D Studio Max, and now I'm hoping to teach myself Blender as well. And of course more rigging practice, but not as intense as it's been the past month. I'll have drawings next week, I promise!

No pictures this week

Sorry everyone, I don't have any drawings to post this week. I've been very busy teaching myself advanced rigging techniques in Maya and learning Unix. Hopefully I can get on top of things during this next week and have something to post.

Demo Reel update!

I've updated my demo reel a bit earlier than promised! It can be seen on the front page of my website, http://mandymassie.com

I'm hard at work on an advanced rig for my knight model. Wish me luck!

Daily Doodle

Someone told me they felt I drew too many animals, so here I am drawing some humans.
